1st Will they take only about the models they currently sell in Europe, or will they make new models specially for us? 2nd Fiat wants to fix its infamous record of reliability, and they have Europe has already done in? 3rd For both, how much will it cost? Alfa Romeo is a competitor to the Toyota and Honda, Lexus and Cadillac is not it? What about Fiat? Thats it, thanks.

I can tell you one thing. Alfa is about on par with Cadillac, Lexus and Audi. I have to say also that it is one plan to bring at least part of the Euro-models in the States. As for what I do not know. Expect to see some of their models go for over 40k.

Honda’s Sci-Fi 4wd In The Acura Rl/legend Fast Cars – Now

Honda has come up with the most amazing 4-wheel-drive system, not for off-roaders but to improve the handling and stability of fast cars. It is being used first in the New Acura Rl (Honda Legend).

Why is it so advanced? This SH-AWD system has the potential to increase cornering power and cornering safety by leaps and bounds. It will be ideal for supercars as well as luxury coupes.(More information about supercars at http://www.fast-autos.com/supercars.html )

First, it allows the amount of power sent to the wheels to be varied from 30% front and 70% rear to 70% front and 30% rear. True, some other systems get near that, but this allows the system to adjust itself to completely different conditions. On top of that, it can alter the torque from zero to 100% to the left or right rear wheel.

In other words, all the power can one to the right wheel one minute, and if necessary can be reversed so that all the power goes to the other wheel in an instant. This might be needed in slushy or snowy conditions, where there was a patch of bare road for a bit on one side offering good grip, but a bit later on a bare patch on the other side.

In addition to those features, the outer rear wheel can be speeded up so that it goes faster than the inside wheel! All done continuously depending on conditions. A few years ago this would have considered desirable, but science fiction.

More power to the rear wheel for acceleration

Confused? Well, let’s start with the front-to-rear power. When you accelerate, the weight of the car is thrown on to the back wheels by the force of acceleration, so you want more power to go to the back wheels – if it all goes to the front you get wheelspin. When cornering, you generally want as much or more power to the rear wheels. SH-AWD does that.

On the other hand, when you are cruising along, you want more power to the front wheels as this increases stability. SH-AWD also does that.

More power to outer rear wheel for better cornering

The side-to-side variation in power is used to improve cornering power and stability. For example, when you accelerate through a corner, extra power through the outer rear wheel counteracts understeer, letting the car corner on rails. In fact, stability control systems used on many cars now do this by reducing the amount of torque sent to the inner wheel – this means that you actually corner slower than you could do. SH-AWD lets you corner faster.

On the over-run, you don’t need that, and less power is sent through the outer wheel for optimum stability. But that isn’t enough because when a car corners, the outer wheels have to travel further than the inner ones – by 5-10% on very tight corners, so the outer wheel normally goes slower.

Honda overcomes this with some gears in the back axle gear set which actually drive the outer wheel faster when cornering! This improves maneuverability and cornering at low speeds.

Electro-magnetic multi-plate clutches

All this is accomplished by multi-plate clutches operated electro-magnetically – a world first – and the gear/clutch set used for acceleration. In fact, these gears also serve as the rear differential.

An advantage of the electro-magnetic clutches is that the electronic controller does not need to control a hydraulic actuation system as used normally but an electric actuator – this reduces cost and weight.

Is this the best thing since sliced bread? For the person who wants to have stability and control, and doesn’t want to know what is happening to the car -yes. Such a system is bound to reduce the input the driver gets from the road.

He will be less aware of whether the surface is slippery, or whether the car is understeering more than usual because the SH-AWD system is correcting things all the time.

There has been a lot of commotion about the recent recalls enacted by Toyota. And rightfully so: the apparent brake problems with the Japanese manufacturer’s market-leading vehicle, the Toyota Prius, have led to some serious injuries – even, in some cases, deaths. The consequences of this transgression have come at a time when the automotive industry is finally beginning to gain back some of the brand loyalty and customer trust that it lost during the recession, the collapse of the Big Three and the subsequent bailout ordered by the U.S. government. Just as faith is beginning to be restored, an industry leader comes out of nowhere and knocks us back into the Stone Age.

However, while Toyota fights its battle, its high-end sibling is bringing some positive spin back to the auto market. Staten Island new Lexus drivers are confident that the transgressions purported by Toyota will not extend to their brand, a name held high in the opinions of many luxury car drivers. And consumers aren’t the only ones recognizing the quality that Lexus seems to serve up year after year; the media is getting in on the action, especially after J.D. Power and Associates named Lexus the top-ranked luxury brand and the number one brand overall in customer service in the organization’s annual Customer Service Index Study (CSI). Power, the study combines the satisfaction levels of car owners visiting service departments for maintenance or repair with dealer performance over the first three years of ownership. Rounding out the top five nameplates in the premium segment are Cadillac (827), Jaguar (822), Acura (817) and BMW (816).”

Who would have thought that there would come a day where people would invest in a used engine rather than buying a new one or even a new car? Well, it has come to past in which one can call it to be a revolution of sort in the automotive industry. It’s quite simple to understand- used engines are more economical than purchasing and installing new engines.

Now if you might be wondering why on earth would people be investing in used engines regardless of the benefits it might have, let us just establish a few points here! Used engines do not mean that they are dilapidated and worthless. Used Acura engines are quality merchandise in which you are assured at least one year warranty on each engine, which of course is only from the remarkable dealers and other sellers worth mentioning. If you are looking to buy a used 2006 Acura Engine (TL), that will only cost you $19000, a 1998 used Acura engine (CL) a measly $500 and a 1999 one for only $100 more! By now you should get the gist of what is being purported and as such, you can comprehend that these prices quoted run reasonably much lower than buying a new Acura engine or better yet a car!

All things considered, it must be noted that in this day and age, investing in a used engine is a great way to save towards other vehicular expenses such as high toll tax, gasoline and insurance costs. Agreed: new TL and RL, HHR, R-Class, Murano/FX35/FX45/FX50 (And Rogue/EX35), 1-series, X3, X6, Aveo, Sebring's all Scions, Aztec add: Ford Flex, Chevy SSR, Grand Caravan (and all its offshoots), PT Cruiser, all Geos, Audi Q7, Armada/QX56, new TSX, Civic Coupe / TSX sedan, Honda Element, Acura Mdx and RDX, new Passat, Cayenne, the new form of Volvo's (as of 2002ish). I could go on. I hate what GM has made the new cars, and most manufacturers appear with the good things are brass. Buying used never seen such a good idea to me, but it has never looked more attractive (literally).
